Sea Fury Charters has ceased fishing charter operations as of 31 March 2017.

We extend our warm thanks to those that have supported our business since September 2017.

We strive to be Auckland’s premier charter fishing business based on the special way that we share our passion for fishing and the outdoors with our guests. We pride ourselves on the customer service that we deliver and the fishing experience that we provide.

Our crew are down-to-earth Kiwis that are knowledgeable, experienced, polite and obliging. It does not matter whether you’re a seasoned fisherman, or whether you’ve never been on a boat before. We work hard to ensure that the memories you make on your trip with us bring a smile to your face for a long time to come.

Don’t just take our word for it, check the testimonials our guests have given us.

Auckland is a city surrounded by the natural beauty of the sea, islands, sea life, bird life and marine mammals. Our love of this environment shapes our philosophy. We are extremely proud of our gulf and we get a kick out of showcasing it to our clients.

Meet your crew

Owner / Deckhand : Blythe Biel

When you first make contact with Sea Fury Charters, chances are you’ll be greeted by Blythe.

She has a background in office administration and customer service and prides herself on clear friendly communication.

Blythe is a University of Auckland graduate and holds a PPL(A) Private Pilot Licence Aeroplane and NZ Firearms Licence.  She’s an outdoorsy type of girl whose favourite leisure pursuits are road cycling, mountain biking, fishing and hiking.

As the owner of Sea Fury Charters, Blythe is hands-on in ensuring that the experience we provide our customers is top notch.

As a descendent of the Te Atiawa tribe, she has woven kaitiakitanga into the way that the business is run; but most of all, it is hospitality, professionalism and warmth that she brings to daily operations.

SKIPPER: Darren McManaway

With over 10 years commercial fishing experience here in Auckland and in the upper South Island, Darren has a wealth of knowledge regarding all things fishing.

He grew up in the Marlborough Sounds and he feels most at home on the water. Combine that with his passion for fishing and his expert knowledge of the Hauraki Gulf and its many islands, you can rest assured that Darren will not only get you out fishing (and back!) safely, but he’ll also place you right on the fish. Don’t be too surprised if your trip goes a little longer than advertised – Darren loves his job so much that we sometimes have trouble getting him to come home!

Darren holds a Commercial Launch Masters (Skipper’s ticket) along with a Qualified Commercial Deckhand Certificate, Advanced Sea Survival Certificate and many others.

Darren has skippered charters out of Auckland for the past 5 years, and before that he skippered Swim with the Dolphins tours in the Bay of Islands. He has a love and great knowledge of marine mammals and wildlife. Adding to the Sea Fury Charters’ experience, Darren will provide a dolphin and whale encounter when they’re in the vicinity. He will always take the time to answer your questions and make sure you get the most from your trip.

Got kids? No worries! Darren loves taking kids fishing. He’s a senior Sea Scout Leader and will provide your child or children with the best and safest experience possible.

At all times a professional, Darren is also very likeable and approachable. He gets a real kick out of providing those on board with the best charter possible. His ‘take home’ at the end of a long day are your smiles.
